Compliance UpdateOn February 1, 2018, Mayor Sly James signed an ordinance that amends Chapter 38, Code of Ordinances by prohibiting public and private employers from asking about criminal records until later in the hiring process. The ordinance applies to any person employing six or more employees and employment agencies. The ordinance excludes “positions where employers are required to exclude applicants with certain criminal convictions from employment due local, state, or federal law or regulations.”
