Motor Vehicle Reports

GIS provides both commercial (CDL) and non-commercial (Non-CDL) driving records in all 50 states plus Washington D.C., providing instant results in most. A Motor Vehicle Report is necessary for those who drive company vehicles or for those who drive their own vehicles on company business. States differ in the information provided, but the average history available is for three to seven years.

For both types of Motor Vehicle Reports, GIS will provide details on:

  • license information
    • License class and class description
    • Issue date
    • Expiration date
    • Status (valid, invalid)
    • Any applicable restrictions)
  • Miscellaneous and state-specific information
    • License class
    • License description
    • Whether the applicant had a previous license
  • Driving record information
    • Any violations or suspensions
    • Date violation occurred
    • Date of conviction
    • Violation/suspension code and description
    • Number of points against their license)

CDL reports will also provide additional information on any violations, plus information on CDL class, special clearances, etc. For professional driving organizations, GIS also offers CDLIS reports, (Commercial Driver's License Information System). The CDLIS allows employers and their agents to comply with FMCSA requirements by searching for prior licenses.
