Raymond Conrad - Owner and Chief Executive Officer

Ray has been with GIS since its inception in 1966 and purchased the company from Policy Management Systems Corporation where he served as Sales Director in 1996. In the years since, through Ray's overall vision and leadership, GIS has attained exponential, purely-organic, growth. In addition to leading to GIS to numerous company-driven awards, Ray has been recognized as Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 Carolinas, and was a finalist for the National Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Albert Bueno - President

Albert's career includes executive positions in operations, sales, and marketing for major contract security firms and background screening companies. His diverse work history includes corporate investigations and security systems analysis. Albert has been in the background screening industry since 1986 and has more than 30 years of experience in the security industry. Since 1987, Albert has been a member of the American Society for Industrial Security.

Johnny Bitar - Chief Information Officer

Johnny oversees all aspects of our Information Technology Group, including system architecture and development, internal and external web applications, and client implementation. He personally heads up product development for new and existing customers ensuring our applications are user-friendly and fit the specific needs of our customers. Johnny has been working in IT since 1992 and in the background screening business since 1998 when he began as the Director of Commercial Services for USIS.  He holds a Baccalaureate in Mathematics, Bachelors in Engineering and Masters in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems and Total Quality Management.  He is a certified Quality Manager and member of the American Society for Quality.

Sharon Mann - Chief Financial Officer

With GIS since 2000, Sharon works closely with new product development to streamline costs and with production to maintain the most competitive pricing and favorable partnership agreements.  Sharon manages all financial, banking and insurance relationships and all related reporting requirements for the company. Sharon, a CPA, has shown great skill and professionalism throughout her career, resulting in her being awarded the Jefferson Award from the American Institute for Public Service and being honored as an Outstanding Member in Business and Industry by the South Carolina Association of CPAs (SCACPA). She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Accounting and is currently serving as Chair Elect of the SCACPA and Treasurer for the Harbison Housing Foundation.

David Bartley - Executive Vice President

David has been with GIS since 1986.  In that time, he has served in many roles, from Investigative Reporter to Operations Manager to Vice President of Operations and finally Executive Vice President, truly rising through the ranks and becoming familiar with GIS’ products and processes along the way.  In his current position, David is integral in the selling process, lending his considerable skills to contract negotiations, national account implementation and relationship management in support of GIS’ business development efforts.

Chris Lemens - Executive Vice President & General Counsel

Chris began representing software and internet companies as in-house counsel in 1995.  With GIS since 2007, Chris manages all legal affairs for the company. In this role, he regularly provides insight to GIS clients into legal issues related to their use of background reports, including issues under consumer reporting laws and under equal employment opportunity laws. Chris previously served as in-house counsel for Realm Business Solutions, Inc, WebMD Corporation, Computer Sciences Corporation, and the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, where he worked in the Law Enforcement Defense Division. Chris earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law in 1993 and a B.A. from the University of California at Berkley in 1990. Chris is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.

Joe Kurta - Executive Vice President, Business Services

Joe joined GIS in 2013 after serving the previous 9 years as Vice President of Sales for eScreen drug and alcohol employment screening solutions. In his current position as Executive Vice President of Business Services, Joe takes his extensive experience in selling and marketing employment screening solutions to provide GIS’ entire sales staff and clients with reliable guidance and advice. Before joining eScreen, Joe served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Yale Associates, Inc., and previously as Company Officer and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for PharmChem Laboratories. Before joining PharmChem, Joe served as Director of Business Development and Director of Sales and Marketing for Unilab Corporation and served in various capacities at Damon Laboratories and Corning/Metpath Laboratories. Additionally, Joe owned and operated Spectrum Helicopters, Inc., Copter.Quick Delivery Sytems and the Geriatriac HealthCare Group from 1979 to 1986. Joe holds B.A. degrees from Alfred University.

Lori Webb - Senior Vice President, Operations & Compliance

Lori has been working in the background screening and security industries since 1985, with extensive experience in public records retrieval and interpretation, credentialing, and systems delivery. Having previously served as Director of Operations for a leading nationwide screening firm, she oversaw growth from a small wholesaler of criminal records to a leading provider of screening solutions.  During this time, Lori developed expertise in public records retrieval and interpretation, vendor relations, and systems delivery. With intimate knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Lori has been a featured guest speaker and educator at conferences both in the screening industry and others. Her professional seasoning extends to numerous compliance-mandated industries with a focus on project management and operational administration as primary areas of her specialization. Lori is presently responsible for all aspects of GIS’ background screening operations, playing an instrumental role in the company’s business and growth strategies.

Jennifer Woodruff - Senior Vice President, Human Resources & Client Services

Since 2005, Jennifer has been balancing her dual interests in law and human resources. As both an HR professional with her PHR and a lawyer, Jennifer has a unique view into compliance as it relates to HR departments. Jennifer received her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of St. Catherine and her Juris Doctorate from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Texas. As SVP of HR and Client Relations, Jennifer is responsible for maintaining our high client satisfaction rating and our high employee morale.

Brad Carlson – Vice President, Sales

With GIS since 2011, Brad has over 30 years of active sales experience and has vast experience in the background screening industry, having worked at a variety of major background screening companies. As Vice President of Sales for GIS, Brad oversees the sales team, providing insight and guidance on how to approach prospects and clients. He is also responsible for improving our fingerprinting synergies, taking our capabilities above and beyond the high standard we maintain today. Brad has a Bachelors of Science from the University of South Dakota.
