Raymond Conrad, owner and CEO of General Information Services, Inc. (GIS) headquartered in Chapin, SC, was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 Carolinas on June 16. This year’s award winners were lauded at a special gala event at the Westin Charlotte with more than 400 people in attendance. This years 24 finalists were selected from 100 nominations by an independent judging panel composed of area business, academic and civic leaders. Personal interviews were conducted with each of the nominees as part of the decision-making process. The Carolinas Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 award for top Services company went to Raymond Conrad. He was selected for his keen risk-taking sense, GIS rapid growth in the marketplace as well as his unique employee management and development style. "For 21 years, Ernst & Young has recognized outstanding entrepreneurship through our Entrepreneur of the Year program," said Kent Geer, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year program director for the Carolinas. "This years winners are truly an inspiration to all. We salute them for their drive, determination and hard work and congratulate them on their success." Mr. Conrad will now be eligible for consideration in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 17, 2007. The overall national Entrepreneur of the Year award recipient is then considered for the worldwide event held in Monte Carlo.
