Safe Harbor Privacy Principles
GIS receives personal information from its clients in providing background screening services only for the purpose legally permissible such as employment and due diligence purposes. Consumers are provided a choice and means for limiting the use and disclosure of their Personal Information. Notices are provided in clear language when individuals are first asked to provide Personal Information to GIS, before GIS uses or discloses, the Information for a purpose other than for which it was originally collected. A consumer may find out more about the nature and scope of any inquiry that is made about them by contacting writing GIS at the mailing or email address provided below.
GIS offers individuals the opportunity to choose (opt out) whether their Personal Information is (1) to be disclosed to a third party or (2) to be used for a purpose other than the purpose for which it was originally collected or subsequently authorized by the individual. For sensitive Personal Information, the GIS will provide individuals the opportunity to affirmatively or explicitly (opt out) consent to the
disclosure of the information for a purpose other than the purpose for which it was originally collected or subsequently authorized by the individual. However where consumers choose to opt out does not mean the data will erased or deleted. Various particular laws and regulatory obligations require GIS to maintain data for a specific amount of time. However the data is not further disclosed after GIS receives such consumer opt out notifications.
3) Onward Transfers (Transfer to Third Parties)
GIS will provide consumer information only to our a) clients and their agents and b) subcontractor partners of GIS authorized to receive such information (e.g. court researchers or other professional service providers of data) GIS shall ensure that any third party for which Personal Information may be disclosed subscribes to the Safe Harbor Principles or are subject to law providing the same level of privacy protection as is required by the Safe Harbor Principles and agree in writing to provide an adequate level of privacy protection.
GIS provides consumers a means to access to their Personal Information or consumer report. GIS allows the individual to correct, amend or delete inaccurate information collected about them in accordance to the FCRA or other applicable laws. Consumers that wish to access their reports may do so by calling (888)333-5696. Consumers will be asked to provide verification proof of identify for security purposes before their information is released.
GIS take steps to protect against the loss, misuse, or unauthorized alteration of personally-identifiable information collected on consumers. GIS recognizes the importance of security for all personally-identifiable information collected on consumers. Once GIS receive personally-identifiable information, GIS take steps to protect its security on our systems. In the event we request or transmit sensitive information, GIS use accepted industry standards, such as 128-bit secure socket layer ("SSL") encryption. GIS strictly limits access to personally-identifiable information to those employees who need access in order to carry out their job responsibilities.
6) Data Integrity
GIS only processes consumer Personal Information in a way that is permissible in accordance with various laws and relevant for the purpose for which it was collected or authorized by the individual. GIS takes reasonable steps to ensure that Personal Information is accurate, complete, current and reliable for its intended use. GIS cannot guarantee the accuracy of information nor is GIS responsible for any errors that may exist with public court records, government criminal sources or information from national consumer reporting agencies such as credit bureaus.
GIS conducts in-house verification methods to assure compliance with the Safe Harbor Frameworks. GIS periodically verifies that the policy is accurate, and conforms with the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles. GIS encourages consumers to raise any concerns using the contact information provided and we will investigate and attempt to resolve any complaints and disputes regarding use and disclosure of Personal Information in accordance with the Principles.
